Amazon has confirmed that the price for the Amazon Prime Membership in India will be increasing by up to 50%, which translates to roughly Rs 500 for the annual package. The rate hike will apply to all the different types of memberships the company offers. Amazon will continue to offer access to Prime Video, Amazon Music, Prime Reading, and Prime Gaming under the same membership package.

Amazon has three tiers for its Prime membership — monthly, quarterly, and annual. These plans are priced at Rs 129, Rs 329, and Rs 999, respectively. However, as per the banner on the app, the prices will soon be revised to Rs 179, Rs 459, and Rs 1,499, respectively. Needless to say, the hike is pretty significant and it would be wise to invest now and get the membership at current rates. Below are all details of the plans, their current rate and revised rates to be applicable in near future.

Amazon launched its Prime membership in India back in 2016. It debuted at an introductory price of Rs. 499, though Amazon revised the annual pricing to Rs. 999 in 2017. The company also in 2018 brought its Prime monthly subscription to attract more customers.

The latest revision has surfaced in the midst of the festive season. Earlier this month, Amazon kicked off its Great Indian Festival sale as a month-long event to provide deals, discounts and offers on various products. Amazon rival Flipkart is also continuously hosting distinct online sales to generate high revenues during this festive season in the country.

In the US, Amazon offers its Prime membership at $12.99 (roughly Rs. 1,000) a month or $119 (roughly Rs. 8,900) a year. The Prime Video membership is also available separately at $8.99 (roughly Rs. 700) a month.
